Electrolysis Equipment at Hilltop!

At Hilltop, we use advanced Apilus electrolysis technology by Dectro International, a Canadian company, to keep treatments as comfortable and effective as possible. Our primary machine is the Apilus xCell Pro, the newest generation platform that operates at 27.12 MHz and is known for its speed and comfort. Many clients report they barely feel the treatment because the work is delivered so quickly. We also have the Apilus Senior 3G, a true workhorse that runs at 13.56 MHz, and we bring it in for specific situations where that platform is the best fit for the hair, the skin, or the treatment goal

Personalized Treatment Plans Designed for You.

At Hilltop, every client’s treatment plan is fully individualized. Hair growth patterns, hormones, skin sensitivity, medical history, and your goals all matter, so we never take a one size fits all approach. We are qualified to perform all three types of electrolysis, and we choose the method that best matches your hair, your skin, and the area being treated. Thermolysis uses heat created by a high frequency current to treat the follicle. It is efficient and commonly used because it allows us to treat hairs quickly while still delivering excellent results. Galvanic electrolysis uses a direct current to create a small amount of lye inside the follicle. This chemical action targets the growth cells and can be especially helpful for certain deeper or more stubborn follicles. Blend combines both methods, the lye produced through galvanic current plus the heat of thermolysis. This technique can be a great option when we want the benefits of both approaches in one treatment. Because electrolysis is so personalized, we strongly recommend booking a free in person consultation before starting. This allows us to assess the area, review your health history, talk about timing and aftercare, and build a treatment plan that is realistic, comfortable, and designed to work for you.

We choose the techniques best suited for our individual client’s needs.

What Does Electrolysis Feel Like?

Electrolysis feels different for everyone, and even for the same person it can feel different depending on the day and the area being treated. Some clients describe it as a quick warmth, a little pinch, or a tiny zap. Others feel more of a sting, especially in more sensitive areas or during certain times in their cycle. We also have clients who treat it like their spa time, get cozy, and literally fall asleep, and we have others who find it uncomfortable but totally manageable with breaks and good support. It’s normal to have a bit of redness or slight swelling after treatment. That’s your skin doing its job and it usually settles within a few hours. If you’re someone who is more sensitive, we can talk about comfort options, including topical anesthetic. The best way to know what it will feel like for you is to book a free in person consultation, where we can do a small sample treatment so you can feel it and we can tailor a plan that fits your body and your comfort level.

Aftercare for Electrolysis

We recommend keeping aftercare simple, gentle, and soothing. Choose natural options like witch hazel or pure aloe to calm the skin, and avoid products with harsh additives, heavy fragrance, or active ingredients right after treatment. After Care We recommend applying a healing cream at home for the first day or two, especially if you tend to feel dry or sensitive after treatment. Keep the area clean and hands off. Avoid rubbing, picking, scratching, or touching the treated skin. Skip makeup and cosmetics on the treated area until your skin has returned to normal. Avoid exercise and heavy sweating for a few hours after treatment. Avoid hot tubs, saunas, and very hot baths for 24 to 48 hours, or until the skin has fully calmed down. Avoid sun exposure on the treated area for 12 to 24 hours. If the area may be exposed to the sun, apply sunscreen once the skin has settled and is no longer irritated.

Book Your Free In Person Consultation

Please use the BOOK ONLINE tab to book your free in person consultation with Brookes Brown, Certified Professional Electrologist (C.P.E.) and owner of Hilltop Electrolysis and Laser. This 30 to 45 minute appointment is your chance to learn all about electrolysis and what to expect. If you do not see a consultation time that works for you, please call the studio and we will do our best to find an option that fits your schedule.

During your consultation, we will explain how electrolysis works, review your goals and relevant medical information, and create an individualized treatment plan designed for you. We will also complete a short 5 minute test patch so you can experience what it feels like. If you are ready, we can book your first treatment appointment before you leave

* Note it is important to arrive to your consult with some hair showing (just above the skin the hair doesn't have to be long).
